Lady Ducks wrap Hays tournament

The Lady Ducks concluded 2021 on the court going 1-4 at the Hays-Buda tournament.

The Lady Ducks started off the Hays -Buda tournament with another big win over 6A Stony Point 43-40. The remaining four contests of the tournament ended 2021 on a down note for Taylor as the Lady Ducks dropped all four games by no less than 22 points.

Against Stony Point Ansley Reed led Taylor with 15 points, while Destiny Lewis had a double-double night with 13 points and 17 total rebounds and led the Lady Ducks with three steals.

After the win the Lady Ducks turned their attention to 5A Kerrville Tivy. The contest was all Lady Antlers as they came away with a 64-14 win over the Lady Ducks. Lewis was the leading scorer for Taylor with five points. She also tallied five rebounds in the contest. Destiny Fields finished with six total rebounds to lead Taylor.

The next day the Lady Ducks took to the court against 6A Little Rock Central. The Lady Tigers, like Tivy, had no problem controlling the Lady Ducks winning 72-14. Reed led all scorers with six points and Kionayh Rivers led with six total rebounds. Aliyana Chavis added four points and Sophia Fisher hauled in four rebounds.

The Lady Ducks then took on Dripping Springs in tournament action. The Lady Tigers took charge from the get-go downing Taylor 47-25. Fisher led Taylor with nine points. Reed finished with seven points and Lewis tallied six points and led with nine total rebounds and four steals.

The Lady Ducks fought hard in the final game of the tournament and led 14-6 against the Lady Matadors after one-quarter of play. In the second quarter, Seguin and Taylor swapped scoring positions with the Lady Matadors outscoring the Lady Ducks 14-6 for a 20-20 halftime score. After three periods Taylor found themselves down by five, 35-30. A scoring run in the fourth sealed the win for Seguin 50-36 over Taylor.

Reed showed out scoring 19 points. Lewis led with 10 total rebounds Fisher and A’ja Lucas each added four points in the contest.

The Lady Ducks were back in action on Tuesday dropping their fifth straight game to the 22-4 Central Texas Saints.

The Lady Ducks open district action this Friday when they host Salado. The Lady Eagles currently have a record of 8-5.
