Hopeful residents now can submit their names for a place on the May 4 general election ballot.

The first day city council and school district board candidates could begin was Jan. 17. The last day to submit candidate forms is Feb. 16 by 5 p.m.

Taylor Independent School District board of trustees has two members whose seats are expiring, Anita Volek and Marilyn Tennill.

Seats for the general election for Taylor City Council are District 2, currently held by Mitch Drummond, and District 3, currently held by Mayor Brandt Rydell.

Drummond, Heather (Shelli) Cobb and Terry Burris have filed for the District 2 seat so far.

According to information provided by Taylor ISD, nobody has filed for an open trustee position. Similarly, city of Taylor records show that nobody has filed for the District 3 seat so far.

The last day to register to vote is April 4, while the first day of early voting by appearance is April 22.
