The Granger Lady Lions varsity volleyball team is set to open the 2025 season at home on Tuesday, Aug. 12, with a non-district matchup against C.H. Yoe. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Granger enters the new campaign looking to build on last season’s playoff appearance, where it fell in the bidistrict round to Burton in a 3-0 sweep. Despite the early postseason exit, the Lady Lions put together a strong year and are aiming to take another step forward this fall.
Head coach Stacy Andel will have some roster adjustments to make following the graduation of several key contributors, including Sofia Bernal, Marissa Hall and Kelsey Dittritch — all of whom played significant roles in the program’s recent success.
Even with those departures, the Lady Lions return a solid core of experienced and talented players, including senior outside hitter Abigail Crouch, senior middle blocker Krista Hutka and promising sophomore Kamryn Rogers. Granger’s non-district schedule features several challenging matchups that should help prepare the team for district competition. The Lady Lions will host Rockdale on Aug. 19 and hit the road to face Rogers on Aug. 26. A showdown with Bremond on Sept. 2 is also among the key matchups to watch before district play begins.
The Lady Lions are set to open District 27-2A action on Friday, Sept. 20, with a road game against Bartlett.
With a strong returning core and valuable early-season tests on the horizon, Granger is poised to be a team to watch this fall.
