Each year sees growth in funding
Local charities will see a merry Christmas after the Greater Taylor Community Foundation’s third annual GIVE TAYLOR campaign surpassed its goal by raising more than $90,000, officials said.
Organizers had hoped to net at least $80,000.
More than 30 nonprofit organizations participated in the event with 24 of those successfully raising funds, according to officials.
The nonprofits garnered slightly over the target amount of $80,000 plus a $10,000 matching gift from Faykus Financial.
Each year has seen an increase in funding, according to planners.
“For the first year (of GIVE TAYLOR) our goal was $10,000 and we raised $20,000. Our second year the goal was $40,000 and we raised $60,000. This year’s goal was $80,000. It is catching on,” said Diana Phillips, president of the foundation.
The campaign drew 535 gifts from 258 donors for an average contribution of $315.
Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry and Thrift Store led the campaign with $28,881.31, followed by the Taylor Educational Enrichment Foundation with $22,290.67.
St. Vincent de Paul Society, a part of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, raised $5,781.24. Hand and Harvest mobile food pantry received the Rookie Award, earning $731.64 in its first year.
“This campaign shows the power of collective giving,” said Phillips in a previous release. “Our nonprofits are doing lifechanging work, and the community showed up for them in a big way. We’re proud to steward this effort and already planning how to make next year even bigger.”
According to officials, the foundation serves as Taylor’s central philanthropic hub. They said the organization strengthens community partnerships, supports local nonprofits and invests in long-term community resilience.
Giving Tuesday is a “global generosity campaign” held after Thanksgiving to raise funds for charitable works.
