Hutto introduces new director of strategic operations

HUTTO — The city of Hutto recently announced David Amsler as the director of strategic operations. Amsler’s transition from a successful sales career in Dallas to public administration is a testament to his passion for public service. After deciding to switch careers, he quickly earned his master’s in public administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. At the city of Mesquite, he excelled and significantly contributed to the city manager’s office.

Amsler also cultivated an understanding of internal services, citywide initiatives, city management and software implementation as he trained in the growing cities of Celina and Kyle. He filled in as city secretary, wrote new policies, conducted employee training and collaborated with departments by assisting in crucial roles.

Since joining city staff in November of 2022 as assistant to the city manager, Amsler has made considerable contributions to every department. His expertise in cross-department planning has been instrumental in managing Hutto’s growth. He has leveraged his skills to enhance efficiency, implement policies that promote accountability and develop training programs that nurture servant leaders.
