HUTTO — Six Hutto High School seniors took the next step in their athletic careers Wednesday, May 7, signing letters of intent to compete at the collegiate level during the school’s spring signing day ceremony.
Baseball standout Jadyn Saxbury signed with Sterling College. A key part of the Hippos’ lineup, Saxbury ranked among the team leaders in batting average and RBIs this season.
Multi-sport athlete Jacob Bell committed to the University of Dallas, where he’ll play both basketball and soccer. Bell averaged 11.9 points per game on the court and was one of Hutto’s top scoring options.
Cylin Tate, who led the boys basketball team in scoring with 13.2 points per game, signed with Southwestern Christian College. SWCC is located in Terrell, just east of Dallas.
In a historic moment for the program, Amaya Shepard became the first girls' flag football player in Hutto history to sign with a college. She’s headed to the University of Saint Francis, which is located in Joliet, Illinois.
Aliayah McPeak-Castillo signed with West Texas A&M to play soccer, while Abigail Gallardo, the first female wrestler in school history to qualify for the state championships, committed to Texas Woman’s University.
