Taylor man receives 43-year sentence for drug trafficking

A Taylor man was sentenced to 43 years in prison after a Williamson County jury found him guilty of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver.

On Tuesday, July 15, Barry Deshawn White, 47, of Taylor, received his sentence. The trial was presided over by Judge Stacey Mathews in the 277th District Court.

White's conviction stems from an investigation initiated by an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip in November 2024, reporting illegal narcotics sales from a residence in Taylor. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office conducted surveillance as part of their investigation.

Evidence presented during the trial revealed that detectives observed White conducting multiple hand-to-hand transactions from his vehicle parked in front of the residence indicative of drug dealing. A search of White’s vehicle uncovered bags containing 66 grams of marijuana, 12 grams of cocaine, a digital scale and tiny Ziplock bags, consistent with drug distribution.

Williamson County detectives were able to identify White, who was out on felony bonds for another drug related case and a firearm case at the time of the investigation. White has an extensive criminal record, including prior convictions for evading and resisting arrest, possession of controlled substances, and assault.

Notably, he was also convicted in 2008 of felony possession with intent to deliver cocaine.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jason Jorgens and Shelly Strimple.

"This verdict and sentence send a clear message that drug trafficking has no place in Williamson County," said District Attorney Shawn Dick. "Our office remains committed to working with law enforcement to disrupt these illegal operations and hold repeat offenders accountable, ensuring the safety of our community."
