The recent “catch of the day” in Lake Granger was a 47-lb catfish.
The fish was caught on a jugline with carp for bait. Brent Ellis, Stiles Parker and Zach Wilkins were the fishermen who accomplished the feat.
According to Wilkins, the lake had risen about eight feet from recent heavy rains, which he suspects helped move this particular fish out of deeper submerged pockets in the lake. While busily checking juglines, the three fishermen were pelted by stinging heavy rain.
However, they were not dissuaded from their efforts to check all their juglines and were finally rewarded the prize fish. Wilkins noted that after weighing it and taking a photo, he released the big lunker back into the lake “to continue living its great life.”
