The Taylor Lady Ducks varsity volleyball team came up just short against the Thrall Tigerettes, falling in five sets on Tuesday, Aug. 19.

Thrall jumped out to an early advantage, taking the first two sets, 25-15 and 25-23, respectively. Taylor rallied to even the match with back-to-back wins in the third and fourth sets, 25-22 and 25-20.

However, the Tigerettes regained control in the decisive fifth set, rolling to a 15-3 victory to seal the match. Taylor was led by senior setter/hitter Peyton Wamble, senior libero McKenna Watson, junior hitter Tianna Candee and junior middle hitter Avery Paulson, who helped spark the Lady Ducks’ comeback in the middle of the match.

Thrall received strong performances from senior outside hitter Brynn Leschber, senior middle blocker Nevaeh Irvin and senior setter Kinley Hoffman as it closed out the match with a dominant final set.

The Lady Ducks returned to action on Thursday, Aug. 21, in the Bastrop Classic Tournament. Taylor dropped its opening matches, falling 2-0 to Victoria West and 2-1 to Lago Vista, and will continue tournament play through the weekend. The Lady Ducks hold a 2-9 overall record on the season.
