The Granger Lions varsity football team will open the 2025-26 regular season against the Johnson City Eagles on Friday, Aug. 29, at Granger High School.
The Lions will be looking for redemption after falling 24-19 in a close matchup last year. Granger enters this season with a healthy roster and most of its offensive production returning. Senior quarterback Wyatt Rochner and senior running back Caleb Hobratsch are set to make their long-awaited return after standout junior campaigns. Rochner recorded more than 2,000 total yards, while Hobratsch rushed for over 20 touchdowns last season.
They will be joined by seniors Caleb Tucker, Dayton Knappa and Joseph Sifuentes to lead the offense. Johnson City, meanwhile, will need to replace most of its offensive starters, with junior Luke Lorenzen expected to play a key role for the Eagles.
Granger enters the season with high expectations. The Lions were picked to finish first in their district by Dave Campbellās Texas Football magazine and will look to start strong in their 2025-26 campaign.
