The Taylor Lady Ducks varsity volleyball team staged a comeback to defeat the Little River Academy Bumblebees in a fiveset thriller on Tuesday, Aug. 26. Taylor dropped the opening two sets 25-22 and 25-15, putting the Lady Ducks in a tough position early.

Refusing to fold, Taylor battled back to even the match with consecutive wins, taking the third set 25-22 and edging out the fourth 25-23. In the decisive fifth set, the Lady Ducks carried their momentum and secured the victory 15-12.

Senior setter and outside hitter Peyton Wamble, senior libero McKenna Watson and junior middle and outside hitter Tiana Candee played key roles in leading Taylor’s comeback effort.

With the win, Taylor improved its overall record to 6-12. The Lady Ducks recently went 3-3 in the Bastrop Varsity Tournament from Aug. 21-23, showing steady progress as they continue through non-district play.

Taylor will return to action on the road Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 6 p.m. when they face Giddings.
