GEORGETOWN — A state district judge has temporarily blocked Blueprint Data Centers from any work at its site in south Taylor pending a court hearing after neighbors filed a lawsuit.

Residents want to stop the company from building its 60-megawatt facility in their neighborhood, claiming the land sold by the Taylor Economic Development Corp. was left in a trust as parkland.

Lured by the growth of Samsung Austin Semiconductor and other technology initiatives, the company wants to erect the data center at 1601 E. MLK Jr. Blvd.

Proponents have argued the project will generate millions in revenue for the town and the Taylor Independent School District.

The temporary restraining order will be followed by a hearing set for 9 a.m. Sept. 29 in Judge Ryan Larson’s 395th state District Court.

Meanwhile, the court has prohibited Blueprint Data Centers from proceeding with development until Oct. 15.

The lawsuit only names the company as the defendant.

Attempts to reach Blueprint Data Centers for comment were unsuccessful.

Community supporters have created a site explaining their views at “Halt the BPP Project in Taylor” at facebook.com/groups/594322447087729.
