Taylor DWI driver receives 80-year sentence

GEORGETOWN — A Williamson County jury put the brakes on a suspected drunk driver who represented himself in court and is sending the Taylor man on a one-way trip to prison.

Thomas Glen Holman, 60, who acted as his own lawyer, received an 80-year sentence Tuesday after being found guilty of driving while intoxicated-third or more enhanced during proceedings directed by visiting state District Judge Kevin Henderson.

Evidence presented by prosecutors Joe Shin and Edward Wilkinson indicated Holman had been arrested several

times in the 1980s, including four prior DWI convictions.

Holman’s latest arrest occurred Feb. 19, 2023, in Taylor. He was spotted by an offduty Holland Police Department officer driving recklessly between Granger and Taylor, according to court records.

The officer pulled Holman over before Taylor police arrived on the scene.

After conducting field sobriety tests, Holman was arrested.

His blood-alcohol level registered 0.292%, which is more than three times the legal limit of 0.08%, according to investigators.
