Class seeks Taylor’s next leaders

A leadership program designed to usher in a better future for Taylor is seeking applicants for its Class of 2026.

The city, the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce and the Taylor Economic Development Corp. are offering LEAD Taylor.

LEAD — an acronym for leadership, exploration, advancement and development — is geared to equipping leaders to become influential in the evolution of the community, officials said.

“Leadership is more than being the head of an organization or team,” said Mayor Dwayne Ariola in a news release. “It is about being a connector, collaborator and inspiration to those around you for the betterment of your organization or community.”

The registration deadline is Dec. 21. To learn more or apply, visit TaylorTX.gov/ LEAD, call 512-309-6790 or email [email protected].

Candidates for the program cannot seek political office while enrolled.

“LEAD Taylor will now focus on equipping leaders with the … knowledge of the community, to know where the needs are and where they can plug in,” Ariola said.

Classes begin Jan. 21, with one all-day class per month for nine months, and conclude Sept. 24.

Topics include personal and professional development, Local Government Day, Education Day, Industry Day, Economy Day, Nonprofit and Healthcare Day, Quality of Life and History Day and Public Safety Day.

“Each session will be packed with information, activities, tours and challenging discussions that will equip leaders to excel, invest and build our community,” according to a prepared statement.

Those who live, work or own property in Taylor are eligible for the program.

In addition, organizers said there are perks for employers who send members of their team to the class.
