COUPLAND — The Coupland Citizens National Bank and the city are sponsoring a Country Christmas Celebration 4-6 p.m.
Saturday.
There will be holiday music, Christmas treats and Christmas lights.

Coupland ISD
On Nov. 21, Coupland School hosted a Thanksgiving luncheon of turkey and all the trimmings for students and families. In another activity, the fifth-grade class went on a field trip to the Texas Science and Natural History Museum in Austin.
Students participated in many holiday activities, including the Taylor parade.
On Dec. 6, families were treated to a pancake breakfast hosted by the PTA and were able to visit with Santa and take pictures.
The Holiday Concert took place 6 p.m. Dec.
11 with performances from all grades, prekindergarten through eighth grade. Dress Up Days took place during December, beginning with the Grinch and continuing with other themes.
Parents attended the first informational meeting about offerings at the new Coupland Junior High and High School Dec.

St. Peter’s Church
St. Peter’s Church of Coupland members and guests gathered for the annual Thanksgiving lunch, which took place Nov. 18. More than 60 people attended.
The Hanging of the Greens took place Nov.
30 at the church, 108 Wathen St., with the house of worship decorated to celebrate the first day of Advent.
The Adult Christmas Party was Dec. 6, at the Wittliff home. The Ladies’ Circle held their annual Christmas Party and Ornament Exchange Dec. 10.
St. Peter’s held a Christmas Carol dance fitness class on Dec. 15.
Horseback caroling is a St. Peter’s tradition and is planned for Sunday.
Carolers ride horses or join in by walking or bicycling. Caroling is followed by a chili supper at the parsonage hosted by the Burleson Family.
St. Peter’s is sponsoring the Angel Tree gift project again this year. This is a community project with Coupland School and the Coupland Volunteer Fire Department.
The school identifies children who might need assistance, and the Fire Department helps deliver the gifts.
St. Peter’s traditional Christmas Eve Service is at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

New Sweden Lutheran Church
Game Days were Dec. 11 and Dec. 18, with a special New Year’s Eve Game Night set for 7 p.m. at the church, 12809 New Sweden Church in Manor. The church has been decorated with poinsettias.
The first Congregation Annual Meeting took place Dec.
7. The proposed 2026 budget was presented and council members were voted on.
Santa Lucia and Christmas Sing Along were held on Dec. 14.
Santa Lucia is one of the most important Christmas celebrations in Sweden.
Officials said the church is keeping the tradition alive. The program included the presentation of Santa Lucia, Christmas carols and special numbers followed by refreshments and fellowship.
This year, Elena Twohig served as Santa Lucia.
The Delights of December will take place at 11 a.m.
Saturday.
“Ladies, please join us for the best event of the year with beautiful tables, a wonderful meal and lots of Christmas spirit,” said Terry Ramm.
The annual Christmas Shoebox drive provided 45 boxes this year to impoverished children across the planet, officials said. The Julotta Service — a traditional Swedish worship event — is 7-8 a.m. Dec. 25.
“Jul” is the Swedish word for Christmas, and “otta” is the time just before dawn.
Following this service, the Christmas breakfast is 8-9 a.m.
The Homesteading/ Everyday Living classes have been very popular and will be continued in 2026. Church members, friends and the community are welcome, officials said.
A coin-collecting class will be 7 p.m. Jan. 14.
The 150th Anniversary of New Sweden Church will take place on April 26.
Members are meeting on the second Sunday to plan this celebration.

Type Church
Type Church members have decorated the church for Christmas.
“We will be having a Church Members’ Meeting to discuss and vote on important matters concerning our church polity and financial budget,” said the Rev. Jeff Pekar. “This is an important time for our church family to come together in unity and prayer as we seek God’s guidance for the future. Your voice and vote matter – every member’s participation helps shape the direction and stewardship of our church.”
The Christmas Service and family potluck is Sunday. After the service the potluck will be at noon. Ham and turkey will be provided.
Attendees are asked to bring side dishes or desserts to share.

Hermann Sons Life
Glenda Gebert reports Hermann Sons Life celebrated Christmas on Dec. 14 in the Coupland Fire Hall. Members donated canned goods and other nonperishable food items to the Elgin Cupboard. Attendees enjoyed games, door prizes and a meal, she said.
