Those seeking community grants offered by the Lower Colorado River Authority have until midnight Jan. 31 to submit an application.
The grants are open to Williamson County first responders, nonprofits, economic- development organizations and facilities such as museums and libraries.
Williamson County is one of 70 in Texas eligible to apply, officials said.
The grants can be used to update gear and equipment for emergency responders and fund improvements to community centers, sports fields, fire stations and other facilities.
Professional associations, for-profit groups and individuals are not eligible.
One recipient will be awarded a $100,000 grant, which commemorates the 30-year anniversary of the LCRA’s Community Grant program, but most grants are $25,000 or less.
Officials noted over a dozen grants will be earmarked for projects of up to $50,0000.
If total project costs are greater than $5,000, applicants must match at least 20% of requested funds, officials said.
Grant requirements include that the funded projects benefit or be available to an entire community and improve the value of an asset or organization through building, renovating or purchasing equipment.
