AUSTIN — Two Williamson County judges are joining the Child Protective Investigations Advisory Committee, Gov. Greg Abbott announced last week.
Hutto resident Ryan D. Larson and Leander denizen Terence Davis are the appointees, the governor said.
Larson, who also was named committee chairman, is a presiding judge of the 395th state District Court, while Davis is a judge on the bench of the 480th state District Court.
“I am thankful to Gov. Abbott for the opportunity to serve and to chair this advisory committee,” Larson said in a prepared release. “Protecting children while ensuring fairness, accuracy and consistency in childwelfare investigations is essential to the integrity of our system, and I look forward to working with fellow committee members to strengthen practices that promote child safety, accountability and public trust.”
The Advisory Committee works to improve the accuracy and consistency of investigative legal requirements and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services policies and procedures, a spokesman said.
The service investigates allegations of child abuse, neglect and exploitation involving those responsible for a child’s care, custody or welfare, according to a release.
“I am thankful to Gov. Abbott for the opportunity to serve our community and protect children,” Davis said.
Both terms expire Sept. 1, 2029.
