THRALL – The Thrall Tigerettes varsity softball team continued its dominant stretch with another run-rule victory, defeating the Harper Lady Horns, 15-0, in five innings on Friday, March 20, at Thrall High School.
Junior Kenzie Engelke led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Senior pitcher Miley Pokorny got the start in the circle and set the tone early, striking out six batters over two scoreless innings.
Freshman Addison Dickens relieved Pokorny in the circle in the third and closed out the game, allowing just two hits while recording four strikeouts.
Thrall wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, plating four runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Sophomore Piper Hernandez got things started with an RBI double, while Engelke followed with an RBI groundout.
Freshman Ryleigh Jensen added an RBI double, and Pokorny helped her own cause with an RBI single to give the Tigerettes a 4-0 lead.
The Tigerettes kept the momentum going in the second inning, adding four more runs to extend their advantage. Engelke, Jensen and Riley Luton delivered three consecutive RBI singles, pushing the lead to 8-0.
Thrall continued to pour it on in the third inning with another four-run frame. Hernandez drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, while Engelke added an RBI double, and sophomore Mireya Torres followed with a sacrifice fly of her own. Sophomore Brooklyn Reyes capped the inning with an RBI triple, stretching the lead to 12-0.
The Tigerettes put the finishing touches on the game in the fourth inning. Sophomore Selena Quintanilla blasted a two-run home run, and freshman AJ Masters added an RBI single to secure the 15-0 runrule victory.
With the win, Thrall extended its winning streak to 11 games and has outscored opponents by an average of nearly nine runs per game during that span.
The Tigerettes improved to 15-7 overall and 4-0 in district play. They opened a district series against Rogers on Tuesday and will close it out Saturday, March 28, at 2 p.m. at Thrall High School.
