The Granger Lady Lions are back in the postseason after finishing fourth in district play with a 4-6 record, grabbing the final playoff spot.
Granger will face a tough test in the opening round against Harper, a team that finished 9-3 in district and brings one of the most dangerous offenses in the area, averaging over 10 runs per game.
Harper is also led offensively by Bailey Stacey, Lanna Childers, and Taelynn Tatsch. Childers also serves as the team’s ace in the circle, giving Harper a strong presence both at the plate and in the pitching circle.
The Lady Lions are looking to bounce back after a 12-1 loss to Holland to close out the regular season. Granger has shown flashes throughout the year, but consistency has been an issue heading into the playoffs.
Offensively, Rylinn Hamby leads the way with a team-best .533 batting average, while Izzy Tavernier and Abi Couch have also been steady contributors in the lineup.
Skyla Thorsen leads the pitching staff and Brooklyn Gaswint and Couch also contribute as the Lady Lions will need strong performances in the circle to slow down a high powered Harper offense.
Granger opens the series Thursday, April 23 at 6 p.m. at Marion High School. Game two is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m., with a third game to follow 30 minutes later if needed.
