GRANGER — The Granger Lady Lions were well represented on the recently announced all-district softball team, with eight players earning recognition for their performances during the 2026 season. Leading the way for Granger was junior Abigail Crouch, who earned co-utility player of the year honors after making a major impact both offensively and defensively throughout the season. Crouch’s versatility and leadership helped anchor the Lady Lions during district play and the postseason.
Granger placed three players on the all-district first team. Izzy Tavernier, Skyla Thorsen and Rylinn Hamby each received first-team honors after strong performances this spring. The trio played key roles in helping the Lady Lions remain competitive throughout the season and secure a playoff berth.
The Lady Lions also had two players named to the all-district second team. Kendall Welles and Kinsey Vitek were recognized for their contributions on both sides of the ball and their consistency during district competition.
Rounding out Granger’s all-district selections were honorable mention recipients Brooklyn Gaswint and Maura Buenrostro, who each played important roles for the Lady Lions during the 2026 campaign.
Granger finished the season with an 8-11 overall record and went 4-6 in district play. The Lady Lions advanced to the second round of the playoffs after defeating Harper Longhorns in the opening round before their season came to an end against Burton Panthers in the area round.
Despite the playoff loss, the future appears promising for the Lady Lions program. Granger will graduate only three seniors from this year’s roster, meaning much of the team’s core will return next season with valuable playoff experience already in place. With several all-district performers expected back, the Lady Lions look poised to continue building momentum heading into 2027.
