COUPLAND — Cowboy Camp 2026 kicks off this week at the Coupland School and officials have outlined the sports programs coming to the new campus.
Starting Tuesday, May 26, and running through Friday, May 29, the camp is open to current Coupland students, 620 S. Commerce St.
Campers are first through fifth graders, and sixth through eighth graders are camp leaders.
A free lunch is provided and activities include music, technology, motion, recycled art and summer games. The $5 cost covers shirts, supplies and transportation.

856-2422. According to Assistant Principal Kate Knapek, other important upcoming dates include summer school, June 1 to June 11; and English-as-a-secondlanguage summer school, May 26 through June 18.
She said in the fall, the new Coupland Junior High and High School will participate in University Interscholastic League cross country, six-man football and volleyball. Marching and concert bands will begin in August.
Another new activity will be the fifth and sixth grade Spirit Squad.
In May, Coupland teachers and paraprofessionals received gift cards from the PTA’s Ashley Langlois as part of teacher appreciation events. Also, the Student Council voted to use its activity fund to provide treats for the teachers.
On May 6, the council also hosted the end-ofschool dance.
St. Peter’s Church of Coupland
Four trophies were awarded when the St. Peter’s Church of Coupland Men’s Brotherhood held their Third annual Car Show April 11.
The church is at 108 Wathen St.
The Men’s Brotherhood Choice Trophy went to James Marx with his 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, while the Pastor’s Choice Trophy went to Don Burkland and his 1936 Ford Model A.
The People’s Choice Trophy went to Bill Dupy with his 1930 Ford Model A and the Best in Show Trophy went to John Jones with a 1968 Dodge Charger.
Jeff Nevers of Old Car Revival in Coupland made all trophies.
“We look forward to seeing everyone next year,” said Jim Alexander, Men’s Brotherhood president.
The Ladies’ Circle Community Luncheon took place May 19.
On Monday, May 25, St. Peter’s will be a film location. The producer is a University of Texas film student; he said this is a major project for himself and his crew.
They will shoot in the sanctuary for 12 hours and use the Fellowship Hall to feed the crew.
St. Peter’s May Mission Offering is for Heifer International, an organization helping small farmers address hunger and poverty in their communities. Since 1944, Heifer has assisted 52 million households, and it now operates in 19 countries. With this month’s mission offering, St. Peter’s will provide farm animals to families in need.

New Sweden Lutheran Church
New Sweden Lutheran Church celebrated its 150th anniversary April 26 with a morning service and lunch in the Parish Hall.
That afternoon, there was a monument dedication in front of the church. The Anniversary Celebration followed with coffee and cookies in the Parish Hall.
Game Days at New Sweden Church are 12:30 p.m. Thursdays.
The church had its traditional Mother’s Day breakfast May 10.
New Sweden continues its free Homesteading/ Everyday Living classes. Church members, friends and the community are invited.
