Visitors get a look at new Wilco admin building

GEORGETOWN — Williamson County officials are moving into new digs next month after a century at the downtown courthouse, but the media enjoyed a preview tour Other convenient services at the facility include drive-thru tax lanes and secure-access areas where financial records are handled, officials said.

The tax office is already open in the building.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is 8:30 a.m. July 14.

After the ceremony, commissioners will hold their first session 9:30 a.m. in the new chamber, which features additional seating and better video capabilities, officials said.

The new space marks a change for the county’s leaders, who have been meeting at the historic courthouse since 1911.

Discussions continue about the future of the old courthouse, which needs repairs, and how it might be utilized by the nearby Williamson Museum on the historic square.
