Tammy Sane, who taught in the Coupland Independent School District for 28 years, retired at the end of the 2025-26 school year, officials said.
“What made her so special to me is the fact that she continued to learn and grow as a teacher, even during her last year,” said Coupland School Assistant Principal Kate Knapek. “She always wanted to do what was best for kids. She loved teaching every day and will be missed.” On May 1, students participated in Field Day despite adverse weather. In addition to participating in games, Happy Time Treats provided free snow cones.

“The cold and rain didn’t stop us,” Knapek said. “Kids and staff were super excited.”
On May 15, students in the first through fifth grades took the annual Book-it Field Trip to Mr. Gatti’s Pizza in Taylor. The visit is a reward for hard work in reading during the year, educators said.
On May 21, Coupland School held its graduation ceremony for eighth graders. This graduating class will be the first group of students to attend the new Coupland Junior High and High School this fall.
Cowboy Camp and summer school have been successful so far, officials said.
Meanwhile, in the fall, students at the new campus will compete in University Interscholastic League activities including sixman football, volleyball and cross country.
In addition to the start of practice for the sports, August will also mark the beginning of marching and concert bands.
Another new activity will be the fifth and sixth grade Spirit Squad.
In late May, Superintendent Earl Parcell and other staffers traveled to the Region 6 Texas State School Safety Center Tabletop Workshop in Huntsville.

The Community Senior Luncheon May 19, hosted by the Ladies’ Circle, featured ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, rolls and dream strawberry cake.
“Special thanks to all the ladies who prepared the meal, and many thanks to the men who helped with serving and cleanup,” said Cindy Alexander, president. “We couldn’t do it without you.”
The next Senior Lunch is July 21. The meal is free, but donations are appreciated, planners said.
Attendees can enjoy bingo and 42 dominoes afterward. Participants are asked to bring a $10 bingo prize if possible.
The South-Central Conference annual meeting took place on June 6. St Peter’s Church was represented by ministers Burleson, Charlotte Albert and Charles Stark, and lay delegate Robert Bland.
After worship June 28, the congregation enjoyed “lunch out” at Rising Sun Vineyard, 233 Edmondson Ranch Road in McDade.
