Live southern roots rock ‹n’ roll music from the Statesboro Revue, a Texas pit barbecue dinner, a live and silent auction, and a raffle: these are some of the highlights promised at the 19th annual Down Home Rodeo, an annual gala event sponsored by Down Home Ranch in support of children born with intellectual disabilities. The event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Coupland Dance Hall & Inn, 101 Hoxie Street, in Coupland. According to representatives from Down Home Ranch, a non-profit organization, “Proceeds from the gala will support people with disabilities as they pursue their interests, learn new skills, build social connections and feel empowered at an inspiring 33-year-old ranch in Elgin, TX.” 08/24/2022 08:20 AM

Residents concerned about manufactured homes being allowed in residential areas gave the Taylor City Council an earful during a discussion about reimagining the Envision Taylor Comprehensive Plan. Tax rate lowered for Taylor ISD
At the regular meeting for the Taylor Independent School District Aug. 15, the board voted 7-0 to set a tax rate of $1.2854 per $100 valuation of properties, lowering the rate from years past. Small town hero honored for bravery
Jolene Volek was one of the few people to run towards danger during a tornado March 21. On Wednesday Aug. 17 she received an award for her bravery. Volek rescued a Granger student from the rubble the tornado left and is being recognized for being a hero in the Granger community. 08/20/2022 07:11 AM
