Dr. Dickey Day 2022 this Saturday
The Dickey Museum and Multipurpose Center will honor and celebrate Dr. Dickey Day, an annual celebration of the birthday and legacy of Dr. James Lee Dickey. The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Fannie Robinson Park Pavilion, 206 S. Dolan St. This year, the first since Dickey’s historic home was destroyed by arson earlier this year, Dr. Dickey Day will be co-sponsored by the city of Taylor and the Blackshear/O.L. Price Ex-Students Association in order to display banners promoting the event on city-owned property, such as Heritage Square and the Taylor welcome signs. 11/09/2022 09:13 AM

Advent fair Nov. 12 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bartlett
St. John’s Lutheran Church will host its 43 annual Advent Fair from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the church, located at 30650 State Highway 95, one mile north of Bartlett. At the fair, visitors can enjoy a silent and live auction, which will start at 6 p.m., featuring handmade and donated items for holiday gifts, including quilts, wreaths, wood projects and more. For $12 per plate, attendees can enjoy a turkey-anddressing dinner prepared by church members from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., a country store, featuring crafts, home-baked goods, casseroles and canned items, as well as St. John Lutheran Church parishioners’ famous creamcheese breads, which will only have a limited availability at the fair. 11/09/2022 09:13 AM

Mini traffic circles cause major confusion
HUTTO - A low-budget solution to a downtown traffic problem is causing anxiety for some Hutto drivers. In October, three mini traffic circles were installed to support traffic flow between a newly constructed neighborhood and the historic area of downtown. 11/05/2022 10:19 AM

On Veterans Day, Independence Day and Memorial Day, central Texans fly their U.S. flags with pride. For many, there is no greater symbol of American values than the nation’s flag.
