The Hutto Lady Hippos varsity volleyball team earned its first district win of the season with a 3-0 sweep over McNeil on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Sophomore Ellie Witcher led the way with 15 kills.
It was the second sweep of the season for Hutto, which also defeated Taylor 3-0 earlier in non-district play. Senior Victoria Escobedo added seven kills, while sophomore Teegan Combs paced the defense with six digs.
Witcher, Escobedo and junior Lola Posley have been the Lady Hippos’ top offensive leaders this season, while Combs has anchored the back row.
With the win, Hutto improved to 11-17 overall and 1-2 in district play. The Lady Hippos faced Round Rock on Friday before traveling to McNeil on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
