HUTTO — The Hutto Lady Hippos varsity volleyball team fell in straight sets, 3-0, to the Stony Point Tigers on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Hutto High School.
The Lady Hippos battled throughout the opening set but fell 25-22. Stony Point pulled away in the second set, handing Hutto a 25-16 loss before the Tigers closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the third set.
Junior outside hitter Elania Dodds and senior hitter Lola Polsley led the Lady Hippos with six kills apiece. Junior libero Teegan Combs recorded five set points and led Hutto with three digs. Senior Kharmin Fisher also finished with three digs.
Despite the loss, Hutto enters district play with a 15-11 overall record. The Lady Hippos also put together a strong showing at the Forney Tournament at Forney High School, finishing the tournament with a 5-1 record.
Hutto will now turn its attention to district competition. The Lady Hippos will open district play on the road against Vista Ridge on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m.
