The Taylor Duck varsity football team picked up a 30-19 home win over the LBJ Austin Jaguars on Friday, Oct. 16.
The Ducks reversed the result of their previous meeting against the Jaguars, which was a tough 49-14 loss at the final home game of last season.
Sophomore quarterback Jeremiah Caldwell had five receptions for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Caldwell has accumulated 787 receiving yards and three touchdowns this season.
The Ducks relied on explosive plays through the air as junior quarterback Johnny Guzman completed just 6 of his 25 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite a historic fourgame win streak to begin the season, Taylor has not been able to replicate its 5-1 district record and second place finish from last season. With three games left in the regular season, the Ducks hold a split 2-2 district record and sit fifth in the district rankings.
Taylor will travel to take on the Davenport Wolves on Friday, Oct.
23 at 7:30 p.m. The Ducks last faced the Wolves in 2023; hosting and opening district play with a 59-42 loss.
Davenport is currently 4-3 overall and 2-2 for district play, coming off a 37-31 defeat by the Fredericksburg Billies.
