The Taylor Ducks varsity basketball team lost 57-47 to the La Grange Leopards on Tuesday, Nov. 26. This marked the Ducks' first loss, dropping their record to 1-1.
Taylor struggled in the first half, being outscored 15-8 in the first quarter and 17-12 in the second, making it 32-20 at halftime. The Ducks showed signs of life in the third quarter, going on a 13-7 run before being outscored again 18-14 as the Leopards secured a doubledigit victory.
The Ducks' primary issue was shooting, going 18-for-50 (36%) from the field. They also committed 16 turnovers, disrupting their offensive rhythm. Senior forward Eli Laurence led the Ducks with 12 points on 6-for-12 shooting but went 0-for-6 on critical free throws. Senior guard Dayton Kennedy followed with 11 points on 4-for-9 shooting.
Taylor will look to bounce back when they host Giddings on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Tipoff is set for 6:15 p.m.
