Bobby James Guzman Jr.

Bobby James Guzman Jr.

Bobby James Guzman Jr. was born Aug. 3, 1986, in Taylor. He passed away Oct. 3, 2023.

Bobby played baseball for many years, and was so talented. He loved playing the game and was an amazing pitcher, leading his team to many championship games. He was a fearless skateboarder and did some crazy moves and flips. He hardly went anywhere without his board.

He absolutely loved fishing. It didn’t matter if it was a creek, river, lake or ocean.

He loved wrestling, collecting Pokémon cars and his favorite was Mewtwo. His video games were Tony Hawks Skate 3 and PaRappa the Rappa.

Ken Griffey Jr. was his favorite baseball player, and the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns were his favorite football teams.

He loved playing horseshoes, and was always ready for a good game of dominoes with his grandfather, Louis.

Bobby always enjoyed going to church. His favorite bible scripture was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ” who strengthens me.”

Bobby loved being near the beach, walking along the shoreline and surfing.

He had a true talent for writing poems and rhyming words to make rap music. He made songs for his cousins and friends.

When he was with family, he liked making us laugh and always playing around. The funny things he would say and the laughter we shared with him we will never forget.

Bobby valued friendships and family. Most of all, he would always make time to say I love you, even during the hard times he was going through, and no one deserved to be treated badly in his eyes. He always wondered why people said, “The sky is the limit,” when we could go way past that.

He may not have lived the most successful life, but he made sure he lived his life to the fullest with love and happiness every day, for himself and his family. He always asked about everyone and how they were doing, and it made him happy we were all doing good.

He always ended his call with, “Tell everyone I love them, and I’ll see them soon.”

He will dearly be missed by so many. Until we meet again… Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gusman; and his grandparents, Eva Regino and Pastor Salos Gusman Sr.

He is survived by his loving mother, Delia Murphy of Converse; father, Bobby Guzman Sr. of Taylor; stepfather, Mark Murphy of Converse; his sisters, Brandi Galindo of Selma, Kristin Alvarez of Round Rock and Marissa Guzman of Austin; grandfather, Louis Dominguez of Round Rock; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct 21 at 3 p.m. at the Primera Iglesia Bautista Mexicana and First Mexican Baptist Church both in Taylor.
