GRANGER – The Granger Lady Lions varsity softball team was well represented on the District 27-2A All-District list, with eight players receiving postseason honors.
Three Lady Lions earned first team alldistrict recognition: juniors Izzy Tavernier and Abigail Crouch, and freshman Rylinn Hamby.
Tavernier led the team offensively, batting .536 with 32 RBIs and three home runs. Crouch posted a .470 average with 32 RBIs and two home runs, while Hamby hit .453 and drove in 24 runs.
Senior Marissa Hall was named co-defensive player of the year after finishing with a .947 fielding percentage. She also contributed at the plate, batting .408 with 16 RBIs.
Freshman Skyla Thorsen and junior Arianna Herrera were named to the second team. Thorsen impressed in her debut season with a .516 average and 29 RBIs, while Herrera led the pitching staff with a 3.28 ERA.
Granger also earned two honorable mentions: freshman Kendall Welles and senior Sofia Bernal. Welles hit .212 with five RBIs, while Bernal batted .519 with nine RBIs. The Lady Lions capped off their season with a playoff berth and a bidistrict championship victory over Goldthwaite in the first round before losing to Burton in the area round.
