A Taylor woman is dead after she was hit by a vehicle Thursday afternoon.
Ramona Pavlas, 59, was killed after she was struck by an oncoming vehicle on the 3700 block of North Main Street. The Taylor Police Department said in a press release that the fatality is under investigation.
At 4:03 p.m. Thursday, Taylor police were dispatched to the scene of the accident. The preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2013 Subaru entered the intersection when it failed to yield right of way and struck Pavlas.
Pavlas was riding her motorized mobility scooter east in the crosswalk of the intersection when the collision occurred. Pavlas was pronounced dead on the scene.
This is the first fatal collision in Taylor for this year, according to Taylor police. This is the second fatality within the last 12 months, however.
On Sept. 9, Gary Dale Krause, 66, was killed by an oncoming vehicle on the 3700 block of North Main Street. Krause reportedly used the same crosswalk when he was struck by an oncoming 2014 black Dodge.
