The Taylor Duck varsity football team was taken down by the Tivy Antlers on the road Friday, Oct. 9, picking up their first road loss of the season.
This was the first recorded regular season meeting between the programs.
The two teams alternated control throughout the first half, with Taylor trailing closely behind 32-28 after a 70-yard pick six by junior wide-receiver Tayden Talley just before halftime.
The Antlers would solidify their lead in the third quarter, first with a 5-yard rushing touchdown by Tivy senior Aiden Zavala. Then, Tivy junior running-back Joshua picked up a 60-yard rushing touchdown and extended the lead 65-49.
Taylor junior quarterback Johnny Guzman was the last to add to the board, completing a 20-yard pass to Talley to bring the final score to 79-56.
The Ducks now hold a 4-2 overall record, splitting district play 1-1. Taylor will return home to play the LBJ Austin Jaguars on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. The Jaguars are currently 0-3, entering the meeting attempting to shake off a 35-7 defeat by Davenport.
