One dies after train, vehicle collide outside of Hutto City Limits
A Williamson County Sheriff’s Office unit blocks the intersection of US 79 and CR 110 after a train collided with a vehicle Wednesday morning. One occupant was taken to an area hospital with significant injuries where they later passed away.

One person is dead after the vehicle they were driving was hit by a train Wednesday morning just outside the Hutto City Limits. 

The collision took place near the intersection of US 79 and County Road 110. The identity of the person was not available as of Wednesday afternoon. 

According to authorities, the accident took place about 10 a.m. when an Amtrak locomotive traveling westbound collided with a Toyota 4 runner on the railroad tracks near the intersection of US 79 and CR 110. An occupant of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital with significant injuries where the occupant later died.

According to Amtrak officials, 71 passengers and nine crew members were traveling to Chicago. None of the people on board the locomotive were reported injured. 

The right eastbound lane of US 79 was closed as first responders investigated the scene. In addition to Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Williamson County Precinct 4 Constables Office, Hutto Fire Department and Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene.
