The Hutto Hippo varsity football team took down the Rouse Raiders 49-35 in their final road game of the season on Thursday, Oct. 22.
Hutto last faced Rouse in 2019, closing out the regular season with a 34-15 win over the visiting Raiders.
Sophomore quarterback Micah Antoun went 27 of 36 for 390 yards and seven touchdowns, one shy of tying his season best. Senior wide-receiver Jaiden Fields had 14 receptions for 214 yards and three touchdowns, with senior wide-receiver Dylon Owens picking up six receptions and two touchdowns.
Hutto worked to establish control first, outscoring Rouse 14-7 in the first half and entering halftime with a 28-14 lead. Rouse matched the Hippos scoring efforts in the third and fourth quarters 14-14 and 7-7. Despite the Raiders best efforts, they could not overtake the stacked Hutto offense and ultimately fell 49-35.
The Hippos now hold a 7-2 overall record and are 4-1 for district, sitting at second place on district rankings as they rest for a bye week next week.
