The Taylor Lady Ducks varsity volleyball team dropped its district opener 3-1 to Lampasas on Tuesday, Sept. 9, as Taylor honored its six seniors on senior night. Taylor fell behind early, losing the first set 25-17 and the second 25-18 as Lampasas controlled much of the momentum. The Lady Ducks regrouped in the third set, tightening their play to earn a 25-21 win and extend the match. The fourth set stayed close throughout, but Taylor came up just short in a 25-23 loss that sealed the match for the Lady Badgers.
Senior setter/ outside hitter Peyton Wamble, junior outside hitter Tianna Candee and senior McKenna Watson have continued to lead the way for the Lady Ducks this season, providing consistency on both offense and defense.
With the loss, Taylor sits at 7-14 overall and 0-1 in district play.
The Lady Ducks faced McNeil in a nondistrict matchup Friday and will return to district competition on Tuesday, Sept. 16, when they travel to Jarrell for a 6 p.m. start.
