A Jarrell man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding on was involved in a collision with an automobile Friday evening.

Billy LaFrance, 24, was killed as a result of the collision. This is the second fatality involving an automobile in the city of Taylor in 2025.

The accident took place right before 6 p.m. Friday on the 13400 block of Chandler Road in the Taylor city limits. According to a release from the Taylor Police Department, officers responded at 5:56 p.m. to the 13400 block of Chandler Road to a report of a collision between white 2021 Toyota Corolla and a red 2024 Kawasaki ZR9 motorcycle.

Williamson County EMS also arrived on the scene and began life-saving measures on LaFrance, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:18 p.m. The driver of the Corolla, 23-year-old Melany Espana of Arlington, was taken to Baylor Scott & White-Taylor by Williamson County EMS and was treated for minor injuries.

It is reported through the initial investigation that Espana was traveling west on Chandler Road and attempted to make a left turn on to County Road 366 south. LaFrance traveled east on Chandler Road and was unable to avoid Espana as she made the turn, which reportedly led to the collision.

The incident is under the investigation of Taylor police. In addition to Taylor police and Williamson County EMS, Taylor Fire Department and Williamson County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
