Charlie Kirk vigil Sunday

A vigil to honor slain conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk is set for 4 p.m. Sunday at Heritage Square Park.

The Taylor Area Ministerial Alliance will host the Sept. 21 event, set to start after the livestream memorial service in Glendale, Arizona, which begins at 11 a.m. Pacific Standard Time - 1 p.m. Central Standard Time.

Music will open the local vigil and area ministers and members of TAMA will provide brief messages and prayers.

The community is welcome to attend and speak about Charlie Kirk.

“We’re just trying to give the opportunity for fellowship and personal expression,” said longtime Taylor resident and TAMA member John Youngblood.

Kirk was fatally shot Sept. 10 while speaking to students on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. A suspect is in custody.

Republican Party members say Kirk was instrumental in galvanizing political support among younger voters for President Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 election.

Heritage Square Park is at 400 N. Main St.
