The city of Taylor has a new downtown director.
Niecy Baum was hired to fill that position. Baum, who has more than 15 years of experience in project management, operations and community development, previously served as the community development director for Pittsburg, Texas.
"We’re thrilled to have Niecy on board to lead our downtown initiatives," said Taylor City Manager Brian LaBorde. "Her collaborative leadership style and results-driven approach are ideal for celebrating Taylor's heritage, supporting local businesses, and strengthening the City’s vibrant downtown and community spirit."
Baum also has ties to Taylor. Her stepfather was born in Taylor and her oldest son is named Jordan Taylor after the city.
Baum also is a lifelong member of the SPJST. She and her husband have six children and 12 grandchildren.
More on this can be seen in the Nov. 15-16 edition of the Taylor Press.
