The Granger Lions cruised to a 55-0 win over the D’Hanis Cowboys on Friday, Nov. 14, in the bi-district round of the Class 2A playoffs at Matador Stadium in Seguin.
Senior running back Caleb Hobratsch set the tone early, scoring on a 30-yard run to put the Lions up 7-0. He added a second rushing touchdown later in the first quarter to make it 14-0.
Granger continued to roll as it pushed the lead to 21-0 before breaking the game open with a punt return for a touchdown. Senior quarterback Wyatt Rochner then connected with senior receiver Caleb Tucker for another score, extending the lead to 34-0. Hobratsch added his third touchdown of the night on a 10-yard run to make it 41-0.
The Lions tacked on two more touchdowns in the second half to cap a dominant shutout victory. Granger controlled the game from start to finish, picking up its ninth straight win.
The Lions advance to the area round, where they will face Yorktown on Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at Giddings High School.
