Man, toddler, dog, breakfast burrito

Man, toddler, dog, breakfast burrito

THE CZECH IS IN THE MAIL

You learn something new every day.

As cliché as it sounds, there are times when it’s true. Earlier this week, I learned it was possible for a man to share a breakfast burrito with his 2-yearold daughter and his dog. To dispel any mental pictures about how this was possible, I did not take turns taking bites of the burrito with my child or my dog.

As it turns out, it was more like a three-person pitching rotation in a baseball game.

In this scenario, I was the starting pitcher. I took the first few bites and gave a piece of scrambled egg to my daughter, Isabella.

“Pitching” in midrelief was Isabella, who picked egg pieces out of the burrito when I left for work that morning. Little did I know she didn’t “earn the save.”

I found out via text message that Coco, the family Shih Tzu, was the closer. She ate the remaining part of the burrito, which predominately was tortilla at that point.

This was not a big breakfast burrito. It was a little one from McDonald’s.

Luckily, I ordered two.

I pitched a complete game, meaning I consumed the other one without assistance.

Last week’s breakfast was not the first time Isabella nor Coco ate scrambled eggs or morning burritos.

Izzy loves scrambled eggs and would eat them at every meal if she could.

The apple didn’t fall far from the tree on that one.

Coco primarily eats dog food.

But every once in a while, she’ll eat food off of the floor or carpet that Megan – my 4-year-old daughter – or Isabella drop while eating.

I’ll likely share a breakfast burrito with one of my daughters in the near future. I can’t make any promises about my dog.

But it was amusing to learn something new about a man, his toddler and his dog.
