Meetings range from AP courses to new junior high/high school
Schools in Hutto and Coupland are looking ahead with meetings for parents and students about courses, programs and transitions for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. The Hutto Independent School District will hold an Advanced Academics Night 6 p.m. Jan. 8 at Hutto High School, 101 FM 685, for middle school and high school students interested in advanced placement and dual-credit courses.

“As we look ahead to the new year, it’s a great time for students and families to consider next steps in learning,” school officials said in a previous release.
The evening gives guardians, parents and pupils a night “to explore higher-level educational opportunities across the district,” the release added.
In addition, attendees will receive information on high schoolbased early college programs and the Texas Bioscience Institute, meet the district’s AP teachers and ask questions about educational expectations.
Meanwhile, the Coupland Independent School District plans a session Jan. 21 in the Coupland School gym, 620 S. Commerce St., to discuss students’ transition from the elementary school to the new junior high and high school.
The time for the meeting will be announced later.
Coupland has not had a secondary school since the 1940s.
After completing the eighth grade, Coupland students have been bused to Taylor or other locales for high school, but a voter-approved 2023 bond allowed Coupland ISD to build a combined junior high and high school.
It will open in August.
During the January meeting, parents and students will learn about the academic and extracurricular programs available at Coupland Junior High and High School.
They also will have the opportunity to ask questions about the changes and expected growth to Coupland ISD in the next few years, officials said.
A previous informational meeting took place Dec. 10.
Registration is now open for new and returning students to Coupland ISD and the district is also accepting transfer students.
