Taylor hosting open houses on growth

Two open houses regarding the future growth of Taylor are scheduled for later this month.

Hosted by the city, the first is 6-8 p.m. Jan. 26 the Dickey-Givens Community Center, 1015 E. Martin Luther King Blvd.

The other is 6-8 p.m. Jan. 27 in the meeting room of the Taylor Public Library, 801 Vance. St.

Officials said the come-and-go open houses are designed to gather community input on current conditions, priorities and future needs as Taylor continues to expand.

A city spokesman said residents are encouraged to attend, learn more about the planning process and share their perspectives.

The city adopted the Envision Taylor Plan in 2021 to guide growth over the next 10 to 20 years. The city also amended the plan in 2023.

“With the arrival of Samsung Austin Semiconductor and the potential for significant impacts on the community, it is common practice for cities to reevaluate their growth policies and long-range plans every five years,” according to a city statement.
