A brief standoff that resulted in a shelter in place order for a Hutto neighborhood ended with an arrest Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect, who has yet to be identified, was taken into custody by the Hutto Police Department around 4:15 p.m. According to authorities, the suspect already had a felony parole warrant and will likely face other felony charges.

Around noon, Hutto police received a call from someone who said they were assaulted but were able to escape a residence on the 100 block of Holland Drive. Based on the severity of the circumstances, Hutto police activated its Special Response Team and called Williamson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT for assistance.

The shelter in place order was implemented around 3:30 p.m. and lifted at 4:15 following the suspect's arrest. More on this story can be seen in the weekend edition of the Taylor Press.
