Standoff ends with arrest

HUTTO — A brief standoff that resulted in a shelter-in-place order for a neighborhood ended with an arrest Wednesday.

The suspect, 36-year-old Christopher Deba, was taken into custody by the Hutto Police Department about 4:15 p.m.

According to authorities, the man had a felony warrant for aggravated sexual assault. He is in the Williamson County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond for the parole violation and a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon.

The case began about noon when police received a call from a woman who said she had been assaulted but managed to escape a residence in the 100 block of Holland Drive.

The department dispatched its Special Response Team and called the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office for assistance from its Special Weapons and Tactics team.

The shelter-in-place order issued at 3:30 p.m. was lifted when officers made an arrest.
