The Taylor Ducks varsity soccer teams swept Giddings on Friday, Feb. 20, as the boys earned a 1-0 win and the girls followed with a 3-0 victory over the Buffaloes.
Boys
The Ducks were locked in a tight battle throughout the match before Andres Lunas delivered the lone goal to secure the win for Taylor.
The victory was crucial for the Ducks, who sit at 6-5 in district play — one match behind fourth-place Rockdale in the standings.
Taylor faced Rockdale on Tuesday and will continue district action against Caldwell on Tuesday, March 3, at home at 5:30 p.m.
Girls
The Lady Ducks handled the Buffaloes in decisive fashion, pulling away for a 3-0 win.
Analisa Arredondo led the way with a goal and an assist. Peyton Wamble and Sam Schroeder each added a goal, while Avery Paulson recorded an assist.
With the win, Taylor improved to 9-2 in district play and remains firmly in the playoff picture. The Lady Ducks faced Rockdale on Tuesday and will return to action against Caldwell at 7:30 p.m. at Taylor High School.
