HUTTO — Officials have identified a man on parole for a sex crime now accused of holding police at bay during a brief standoff last week.
Christopher Deba, 36, remained in the Williamson County Jail in Georgetown Monday charged with aggravated assault with a weaponserious bodily injury, according to court records.
In addition, the 6-foot 8-inch, 240-pound man is charged with a parole violation and aggravated sexual assault, with bonds totaling $500,000, according to booking records.
The case began about noon Feb. 18 when Hutto police received a call from a woman reporting she had been assaulted but managed to escape a residence in the 100 block of Holland Drive.
The department dispatched its Special Response Team and called the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office for assistance from its Special Weapons and Tactics team.
A shelter-in-place order issued to neighbors at 3:30 p.m. was lifted when officers made an arrest at 4:15
p.m.
