THRALL – The Thrall Tigerettes freshman Reese Madsen had two home runs in a 7-0 victory over the Holland Hornets on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Madsen went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.
Senior utility player Miley Pokorny got the start in the circle and threw a complete-game no-hitter with 15 strikeouts.
Thrall got on the board first on a sacrifice fly by sophomore outfielder Piper Hernandez that scored sophomore shortstop Selena Quintanilla for a 1-0 lead.
Quintanilla finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Madsen followed with a solo home run later in the inning to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Tigerettes added another run in the bottom of the third on a dropped fly ball to make it 3-0.
Madsen hit her second home run of the game in the fourth inning to push the lead to 4-0. Quintanilla followed with a home run of her own in the fifth to make it 5-0.
Madsen added an RBI double to extend the lead to 6-0, and sophomore right fielder Mireya Torres drove in the final run with an RBI single to make it 7-0. It was Torres’ only hit of the game.
The win marked Thrall’s second shutout of the season. The Tigerettes will compete in the Taylor Tournament this weekend alongside area teams Taylor and Granger.
