The Taylor Ducks soccer programs swept Cameron on Friday, March 6, as both the boys and girls teams earned dominant 8-0 victories.
Boys
The Ducks played with a sense of urgency as they continue their push to become postseason eligible in the final weeks of the season.
Mateo Lopez Rivera led Taylor with three goals, while Adan Torres also recorded a hat trick. Kason Page and Josue Garcia-Vasquez each added a goal to round out the scoring for the Ducks.
Taylor controlled the match from the opening whistle, consistently applying pressure on the Cameron defense and converting several scoring opportunities to build a commanding lead.
The Ducks currently sit sixth in the district standings with an 8-6 record and are just a couple of games behind Giddings and Rockdale for the final postseason spot.
Taylor faced Salado on Tuesday and will close out the regular season against Manor New Tech on Tuesday, March 17 at 7:15 p.m. at Taylor High School.
Girls
The Taylor Lady Ducks also delivered a dominant performance, with seven different players scoring in an 8-0 victory over Cameron.
Analisa Arredondo, Peyton Wamble, Catalina Valverde, Kaitlyn Crane, Avery Paulson, Araceli Mena and Sam Schroeder each found the back of the net. Schroeder led the team with two goals.
Taylor’s offense was balanced throughout the match, with multiple players contributing as the Lady Ducks steadily extended their lead.
Goalkeeper Nikki Rodgers recorded another shutout, continuing a strong season in net for Taylor’s defense.
With the win, the Lady Ducks improved to 12-2 in district play. Taylor faced Salado on Tuesday and will close out the regular season against Manor New Tech on Friday, March 13 at 7:15 p.m. on the road.
