Plenty going on at Coupland School
COUPLAND — Coupland School second graders presented a “live museum” Feb. 27.
“They did amazing research and presented to parents, students and staff,” said Assistant Principal Kate Knapek.
Coupland pupils also celebrated Texas Independence Day on March 2 by wearing red, white and blue; and Coffee with a Counselor was March 3. Participants were given information about the school counseling program.
In preparation for the upcoming school year, Principal Brian Booker gave seventh-grade students a course selection page for the 2026-27 school year and discussed the course description guide. The pages were turned in at the registration celebration on March 4.
The school board also recently named Marcia Buffington as a new trustee.
St. Peter’s Church of Coupland
Holy Week begins March 29 at St. Peter’s Church, 108 Wathen St. Events for the week include Palm Sunday Service 10:15 a.m. that day with a potluck lunch afterwards.
The Good Friday Service is 7 p.m. April 3 and the sunrise service is 7:15 a.m. April 5, followed by Easter breakfast provided by Peter Wabbel and the Men’s Brotherhood.
There will be Sunday School for children and adults followed by worship service at 10:15 a.m. The children’s Easter Egg Hunt is after the worship service.

St. Peter’s will have a new website soon.
“We will get an increase in our ability to design and structure the website,” said webmaster Charles Stark. “The website is still being developed, and you can expect changes as we move through the month of March,” Stark said. “Don’t hesitate to let me know what you like and what you might like to see changed. The Ladies’ Circle met March 4 at Texas Bay Seafood and Steak restaurant in Taylor. Attendees planned the Community Senior Luncheon March 17, the Easter Egg Hunt and other events.
St. Peter’s March Mission Offering is going to the One Great Hour of Sharing which helps people worldwide, officials said.
The Second Annual St. Peter’s Classic Car Show at the church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 11 is free, but donations are appreciated and trophies will be awarded. There will be a bake sale and concessions as well.

New Sweden Lutheran Church
New Sweden Lutheran Church, southwest of Coupland at 12809 New Sweden Church Road in Manor, will celebrate its 150th anniversary April 26 beginning with worship at 10:30 a.m. and followed by lunch in the
Parish Hall.
At 1:30 p.m., there will be a monument dedication in front of the church. The anniversary celebration is 2 p.m., followed by coffee and cookies in the Parish Hall.

New Sweden is holding weekly Lenten services. Every Wednesday a meal will be served at 6 p.m., and the service begins at 7 p.m.
April 2 marks the Maundy Thursday Service at 7 p.m. The Good Friday Fish Fry is at 6 p.m. with an Easter film.
On Easter Sunday, New Sweden will hold a sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. at New Sweden Cemetery on New Sweden Church Road, followed by breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the Parish Hall. The Easter Sunday Service will be at 10:30 a.m.
The Rev. Hans Lillejord will hold Bible Study at 10 a.m. March 24. Adult Sunday School will be Sundays at 9:30 a.m. and game days will be Thursdays at 12:30 p.m.
New Sweden continues its Homesteading/ Everyday Living classes at no cost. The annual Blessing of the Bicycles to support cyclists who raise money for charities takes place March 21.
In what some billed as an unusual event Feb. 21, the church hosted farmers from Sweden who visited with local growers and enjoyed a lunch hosted by the church.

Lone Star Polocrosse Club
Coupland’s Lone Star Polocrosse Club will host the Jon Weber Easter Classic Polocrosse Tournament 8 a.m. April 4 and 4 p.m. April 5 at 6101 FM 1466 east of Coupland.
“We are looking forward to a great tournament with fun Easter activities,” Prissy Rumel said.
Hermann Sons Life meeting
Hermann Sons Life will meet at 11:30 a.m. March 28 at the Coupland Fire Hall, 403 FM 1466. There will be installation of officers followed by lunch.
